Short Breaks is a statutory service funded by the Early Intervention Grant and aims to increase activity opportunities available for children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs to participate in.
This in turn provides a ‘short break’ for parents/carers while their child or young personparticipates in a safe, fun and enjoyable activity which meets their needs.
To achieve this, Short Breaks offers a range of after-school clubs, evening and weekendactivities and overnight stays for children and young people (up to their 19th birthday).
Additionally, Short Breaks provides a range of facilities for families to use; including the beachhut at Shanklin beach, Short Breaks lodge at Nodes Point and the Short Breaks caravan at Lower Hyde along with hoists, Landeez wheelchairs which enhance accessibility on the Isle of Wight.
