There are a number of libraries on the Island, all offering a wide range of services. Becoming a member of a library is free.

Libraries offer a range of services and facilities including: Books; DVDs; e books; Wifi; Talking Books on CD; Large Print books; Computer facilities; Free Internet access; Free online language courses; free online courses; e-magazines; Free access to Find My Past family history website; Online reference resources; Word processing; Scanning facilities; Printing; Colour/B&W photocopying service; Reference Collections; Local Studies Collections; Newspapers;  children’s activities; help centres.

The County Records Office holds the Local Census and local records such as baptism and burial registers along with all other local archives, maps and an illustrations collection. It also holds street and trade directories and cemetery records
